Nirbhaya gang-rape case: Justice hurried, justice buried, says convicts' lawyer

Ani29 January 2020, 7:36 AM UTC

Convicts lawyer in Nirbhaya gang-rape case, AP Singh said that state and Central Governments are hurrying in giving the judgment of Nirbhaya gang-rape. He said, 'I want to know how many mercy petitions are filed to Central Government, Home Ministry and office of President. Why is 'pick and choose' formula being used? Justice hurried, justice buried. Can a decision be taken in hurry? Is it justified? It can't be." Supreme Court on January 29 dismissed petition of 2012 Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh and said there is no merit in the contention, alleged torture can't be a ground, all documents were placed before the president and he had taken them into consideration.
