A Utah man named Kenneth Manzanares has agreed to plead guilty in Alaskan federal court to second-degree murder for the killing of his wife, Kristy, while they were on a cruise ship, according to court documents filed on Monday.The signed plea agreement lays out the facts of the case, which began when Kenneth, Kristy and their family members boarded an Alaskan cruise in July 2017.

 Around 8:50 p.m. on the second night of the cruise, the document says, Kenneth and Kristy were in a cabin with their 22-year-old daughter and an unidentified minor. Kenneth and Kristy began arguing, and Kristy said she wanted a divorce, telling Kenneth to get off the cruise at Juneau and go back to Utah.

Their daughter and the minor left the room and went to a relatives’ cabin, but a few minutes later they heard Kristy scream. When they tried to go back into the cabin, Kenneth told them not to come in. They then went to a balcony that was shared between the cabins and saw Kenneth punching Kristy in the head while Kristy was on the floor. Security and medical personnel arrived at 9:03 p.m., and by 9:20, Kristy was pronounced dead.
