WHO Changed the Name Of Coronavirus

The deadly coronavirus, that took more than 1000 lives in China, will be called with a different name from now. The World Health Organization (WHO) officially names it a Covid-19.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of WHO, revealed the official name of Coronavirus as Covid-2019, which reads C-Corona, V - Virus, D - Disease 2019, at Geneva.

As the word Corona defines a large set of viruses and is creating confusion, the WHO officials did name it with Covid-19, which does not have any resemblance or representation to a region, or an animal or any race in the world. It is easily pronounceable and also related to the virus itself.

The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses designated the virus as SARS-CoV-2. This new name is coined to avoid stigmatism and inaccuracy, also gives a standard format to the scientists in case of future coronavirus outbreaks.

So far, there are more than 42,200 confirmed coronavirus cases across China with total death of 1017.

The cases of Coronavirus are confirmed as Japan -161 (includes the 135 cases on cruise ship off the Japanese coast, Taiwan 18, Australia 15, Singapore 45, Thailand 32, South Korea 28, Malaysia 18, Vietnam 15, Germany 14, US 13, France 11, UAE 8, UK 8, Canada 7, India 3, Philippines 3, Italy 3, Russia 2, Spain 2, Cambodia 1, Finland, Nepal 1, Sri Lanka 1, Sweden 1, Belgium 1.
