Brown Co. Sheriff warns of potential phone scam

 The Brown County Sheriff's Office reports it has received several calls about an alleged phone scam this past weekend.

According to reports, individuals received calls from someone representing themselves as Brown Atchison Electric. The caller informed them that their services were about to be cut off and to avoid this, they had to make a payment over the phone.

Jim Currie at Brown Atchison Electric says that customers would never be contacted over the weekend. He suggested that if customers have questions or concerns to call Brown Atchison Electric at 785-486-2117.

If you feel you have been a victim of a scam, notify your local law enforcement at once.
