As many as 3,338 people infected with the novel corona virus are untraceable in Bengaluru, reports NDTV. The number accounts for over 7 percent of the total number of cases in the city, which has seen a surge in infections over the last couple of weeks. A lock down had been imposed in the city from 15 to 22 July.

India reports highest single-day spike with over 49,000 new cases today

India reports 49,931 new corona virus cases on Monday, taking its overall tally to 14,35,453. This is the highest single-day surge in fresh infections. The toll rises by 708 to 32,771. More than 9.17 lakh people have recovered.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu remain worst-hit

With 3,75,799 confirmed cases of COVID-19 so far, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (2,13,723) and Delhi (1,30,606).

At least 38 employees test positive in Tamil Nadu bank

At least 38 employees of a national bank's main branch in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, have tested positive for corona virus, officials from the bank and the local civic body have said.

According to the officials, the customers who visited the bank have also been advised to voluntarily appear for corona virus tests. Earlier, a senior official of the branch who was suffering from other complications, had died of COVID-19.

India's recovery rate rises to 63.92%

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has increased to 63.92 percent. The recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.55%:3.45% now, according to the Government of India.

Over 5.1 lakh samples tested yesterday, says ICMR

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 1,68,06,803 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till 26 July. Of these, 5,15,472 were tested yesterday.

43 test positive after attending wedding in Kerala

Forty-three people have tested positive in Kasargod, Kerala, after they attended a wedding ceremony on 17 July, reports ANI. The Badiyudukka Police have registered a case against the bride’s father under Kerala Epidemic Diseases Ordinance 2020.

India reports over 97,000 new cases over the weekend

India registered 97,577 new cases in the past two days. On Saturday, India registered 48,916 COVID-19 infections in a single day, taking the overall count to 13,36,861. The COVID-19 toll reached 31,358 after 757 more patients succumbed to the novel corona virus.

On Sunday, India's corona virus case count mounted to 13,85,522 on Sunday with 48,661 people testing positive for the disease

China reports 61 new cases, including 41 in Xinjiang

China reported 61 new corona virus cases in the mainland for July 26, up from 46 cases a day earlier, the health commission said on Monday. Of the new infections, 41 were in the far western region of Xinjiang, 14 were in the northeastern province of Liaoning and two in northeastern province of Jilin, while the remaining four were imported cases, according to a statement by the National Health Commission.

China reported 44 new asymptomatic patients, down from 68 a day earlier. As of Sunday, mainland China had 83,891 confirmed corona virus cases, the health authority said. The COVID-19 death toll remained at 4,634.

India registers over 47,000 new cases, 650 deaths in past 24 hours

India registers 47,703 new cases and 654 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours. With this, the country’s tally is now 14,83,156 and toll stands at 33,425.

More than 5 lakh COVID-19 tests conducted everyday for past 2 days

More than 5 lakh COVID-19 tests conducted in a single day over two consecutive days. On 26 July, India tested a total of 5,15,000 samples and on 27 July, a total of 5,28,000 samples were tested, according to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

US reports nearly 1,600 deaths in biggest single-day spike since May

The corona virus situation seems to be worsening in the United States where the death toll increased by nearly 1,600 in a single day on Tuesday, reported news agency AFP. It is the highest single-day spike in deaths in the US since May. California and Florida, which are two of the most populous states, accounted for more 362 deaths of the fresh fatalities due to Covid. Arkansas, Montana and Oregon also saw a record rise in one-day fatalities. The US has been witnessing a surge in death toll for three weeks in a row. According to Reuters, fatalities increased by over 1,000 for four days in a row in the US last week. It is worth mentioning that five US state in the South and West reported record death figures and cases in Texas pass the 4 lakh-mark. As of now, the United States has registered nearly 1.5 lakh deaths and 43 lakh cases since the virus was first detected in the country.
