There was demand but no supply, awareness, capital/money resources for artists or education/training due to poverty and low incomes. Overpopulation and karuvu got them huge following even without internet or social media and even with silly stories. its the reason why they got paired with YOUNG actresses even when they grew older wearing wigs. Chiranjeevi’s Quaidi 786 masala movie is a hit - no surprise..

sadly none of those heroes could act or even utter simple dialogues properly other than coming up with their own silly accents (like Mohan Babu - but his M Dharmaraju was a welcome deviation). If those people entered the industry now, we all know where they would be - nowhere!

even more sadly today’s actors and directors are a tiny bit better but still making 50 year old movies. MB can do simple dialogues and action but he is forced into those naive silly movies with annoying heroic elevations, cheap comedy and exaggerated fights with people and SUVs flying high into the sky like a video game! Bones will get broken before they fly into the sky and the hero would end up in jail before they land on the ground in real life. There is NO way a normal loafer hero with absolutely no training in martial arts (even in the story) can thrash 40 or 100 hardcore professional goons armed with knives and guns - without a scratch. Doesn’t happen in real life - unless he is Sylvester Stallone crafting explosives for a living like in Specialist (my favorite movie). It would be even bigger hits if they tone it down and keep it real simple with no loud, jarring music/dialogues that make it sound even cheaper (I use ear plugs when I watch them in theaters).

Simplicity and serious comedy work great in Hollywood - it will work anywhere. Gaazi Attack is a good example from a qualified/trained director. Mallesham is another one.

Only few heroes NTR ANR Krishna Shobhan babu same continued till 2000

"Almost all actors in black and white came from Krishna and east godavari district. One of the biggest reason is their face cuts and appearence.  Who ever have broad face used to get character role during stage play days. Most of them used to come from Krishna or godavari Delta areas..as they are well built with healthy diet all year round."

This was what late comedian AVS wrote in one of the article for Telugu movie patrika. Appudu ardham ayindhi why people from that area dominate irrespective of Creed caste . They are popular in stage shows even before entering movies.

Satyanarayana, Sv ranga Rao all came from same place with huge cutout.

Even  late villian srihari is from Krishna jilla

Krishnam Raju is also huge cut out .

Chitoor nagaih Ranganath and many others.

Other hero's who came to industry without this body and face cutout are and kantha Rao, chalam , Chandra Mohan , narsimha Raju, haranadh , Rama Krishna

Kantha Rao - he acted till his last breath lost all his money by producing very stupid movies like swathi chinukulu. His sons are waste fellows...taagi tini sleeping batch.

Chitoor nagaih - he was biggest star in 1940s before and became successful.

He used to get paid highest remuneration, more than mega star.  In his final days ..papam phone bill ki kooda dabbulu levu.

Chandra Mohan - one of the most busy actor of 80s and very foodie.

He spoiled his career over eating and drinking alcohol.

Narsimha Raju - he was substitute to kantha Rao and ntr for folklore movies. Now acting in Tamil serials for day to day living.

Haranadh - a pilot trained, who gave up pilot career for movies. Cancer from over drinking alcohol ruined his career.

Ramakrishna - he was tailor and became movie hero . His stint was short and limited to few movies. Died of cancer.
