London (CNN Business)Global aviation is shutting down in response to the coronavirus outbreak and many airlines will need government bailouts within weeks or face bankruptcy.

Airlines across the world are grounding planes, laying off workers and scrambling to preserve cash as measures to contain the outbreak prompt flight bans and wipe out global travel demand.
According to CAPA Centre for Aviation, a consultancy, most airlines in the world will be bankrupt by the end of May. "Coordinated government and industry action is needed — now — if catastrophe is to be avoided," the firm said in a report published Monday. "Cash reserves are running down quickly as fleets are grounded, and what flights there are operate much less than half full," it added.

Add Chinese restaurants and movie theaters to the list..people will.stay away from Chinese run business

Chinese restaurants, in particular, have suffered financial hits. Many Chinese-owned restaurants in the Tampa Bay area reported a sudden and steep drop in sales while other restaurants said they were still experiencing a steady flow of customers.Similar backlashes against Chinese and Asian-owned restaurants have been reported across the country, most notably in New York City and San Francisco, both places with burgeoning historic Chinatowns. The events have spurred catastrophic hits in sales, prompting dozens of restaurants to resort to takeout only or shutter completely.

Chinese restuarants mellaga take outs and deliveries are picking up like grubhub, door dash, uber eats etc.. But airlines are doubtful, government will bail them out like banks..  Also hopefully things will get better in a month like China

Among the airlines, Cathay is hit hard. Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon and Hong Kong airlines can not afford to sit idle anymore. If they don’t take to skies in the next one month, these airlines would need massive investment to fly again, perhaps bail outs and write outs..!

And if the oil prices rebound just in time airlines start flunking regularly, will hit them hard again..
