Also, new drug discovery is a very expensive process and the returns take a lot of time, so not many companies invest in new drugs development without government support.

Not completely but a lot of their research is partially funded by government. For example cholestrol related problems leda diabetes lanti problems ki companies e invest chestayi chala varaku enduku ante vatiliki demand undi market lo. But rare diseases or problems ki government fund cheste kani companies munduki ravu research cheyyadaniki. Anduke kada ikkada baada, government funded research tho private companies launch chesina drugs kuda konni overpriced untayi, janalu dani gurunchi protests kuda chesaru.
