In Washington Square Park, the virus couldn’t slow down chess players such as Sarfaraz Ahmed. “How long are you going to be in prison in your own house?” he asked. “I’ll take my chances.”

It depends on what you're doing though. Both me and P2 are in non-IT. We just hired someone at my work (she will probably remotely start during the shut down). P2 is also in non-IT, he recently switched jobs. WFH is not easy when you're in non-IT, but you just have to make it work.

Guys.. just relax and think practically..if everything is shut down for atleast 4 more weeks.. ripple effect will be for sure.. coz. Most of the daily workers  and small businesses will Be out of cash and run in deficits and govt won’t have tax money to continue existing projects too..and people expenses will come to a hault..

for:: example..

I have one of my friend working to a dental related small software entity.. which layed off all cntrctrs saying that due to covid from last 1-2 weeks.. they had very less aptmnts ..nd revenue impacted and anther wrking for retail also lost due to similar situation in Illinois

Defense.. they won’t cut ..coz it’s necessity in case for any unavoidable situation., for example  defense also helping with its supplies for covid19

Not possible in a Republican Government. A lot of medical research is funded and done by defense labs. NIH will also see an increase in funding.

800 feels like to far fetched, Layoffs are sure, depending on the business type it might be around 10- 30%. I heard from my product owner that Management is having lot of meetings to assess the situation (stock took around 40$ beating).

Marriott intends to furlough about two-thirds of its 4,000 corporate employees at its headquarters in Bethesda, Md., as well as two-thirds of its corporate staff abroad (expected to last 60 to 90 days).
