Robert Garff, a business leader and philanthropist who served as speaker of the Utah House of Representatives, has died at 77 due to complications from COVID-19. His death was announced by the Ken Garff Automotive Group, of which he was chairman. Garff served as Utah’s House speaker from 1985 to 1987 and was an organizer of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from a visit to Palm Springs, the automotive group said, adding that his wife also tested positive and is recovering at home.
