Although this original statement didn’t include unionized workers, now Disney has begun extending furloughs to other employees of the company. While the American Federations of Musicians Local 389 has come to an agreement with Disney, other unions are also making agreements with Disney to furlough for workers.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2088 has also joined in the talks of furlough.

They came to an agreement “that will maintain members’ health insurance benefits coverage, educational support, and additional employee assistance programs during a temporary furlough effective April 19th.”

Disney is also currently working to come to an agreement with Unite Here, which represents ride attendants, vacation planners, custodians, housekeepers, and other Disney World employees. We will keep you updated as we hear about more agreements between Disney and union workers!

TJ Maxx & Marshalls owner TJX Companies will furlough the majority of its U.S. workers at the end of the week.

It's an enormous retail employer with 286,000 people worldwide, mostly in the U.S. – that's more than double the staff of Macy's, America's biggest department store.

“Under provisions outlined for the first time, the loans would be geared toward businesses with up to 10,000 employees and $2.5 billion in revenues for 2019.“

Loan is different than PPP. You can request EIDL + PPP but EIDL is not forgivable.

Boston-based New Balance is the latest retail company to announce furloughs because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Due to the rapid economic downturn related to COVID-19 and its impact on our business, we have made the extremely difficult decision to furlough a portion of our owned retail, factory, and office workforce,” chief executive Joe Preston wrote in a news release Tuesday night.

The athletic footwear and apparel company declined to disclose when the furloughs will go into effect and how many of its employees will be impacted by the decision. New Balance already had closed its corporate-owned retail locations and manufacturing factories when Governor Charlie Baker ordered all nonessential businesses to close.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County will furlough some employees in anticipation of a drop in tax revenue caused by the economic downturn related to the coronavirus.

All full-time, non-union employees — generally salaried workers — will be required to take 80 hours of unpaid leave, according to a notice sent to employees late Wednesday by County Executive Armond Budish.

Those unpaid hours will likely be spread out over several paychecks to lessen the blow, county spokeswoman Mary Louise Madigan said. More information will be released in the coming days about how the furloughs will be rolled out.

The county also made changes to leave policies that will affect executive employees in the Budish administration:

•The county plans to do away with a requirement that sick time must be exhausted before workers can tap 80 hours of “paid emergency administrative leave,” which was instituted March 16 in response to COVID-19. The change is subject to approval by County Council.

• Something called "paid closure leave,” which was provided to some employees, will end effective April 15. The notice does not define paid closure leave or explain who, thus far, has received such leave time. Madigan told cleveland.com she would provide more details about what constitutes “paid closure leave” later on Thursday.

•Federal legislation providing some workers with 80 additional hours of sick leave and expanded family medical leave will not apply to many workers who have been deemed essential and must remain on the job.

• Expanded federal leave provisions will only be made available to eligible workers who:

- are under a federal, state, or local quarantine or isolation order related to COVID–19.

- have been advised by a health-care provider to self-quarantine due to concerns related to COVID–19, or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and seeking a medical diagnosis.

- are caring for an immediate family members (such as children, a spouse or relatives who live in their home) who are under isolation or quarantine orders, or have been advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine.

- are caring for a child because schools or daycares have been closed, or whose child-care provider is unavailable due to COVID-19 precautions.

In the Wednesday note to employees, Budish noted that the county doesn’t yet know the extent of its losses in revenue, but expects them to be significant. Nonetheless, the note stated that the county is “experiencing an unprecedented drop in revenue which is a big component of what allows us to continue our daily operations.”

The changes are meant to keep the county “fiscally responsible” while maintaining important community services, the note stated.

Well the companies aren't making any money and they are not confident enough about the future prospects
