Depends on how you want to live there... Luxury does not bring Happiness always,  especially in India...

If you have more money then your parents itself do not show mercy on you.. this is a hard fact and you need to digest it...

if you are reaching retirement and not bringing your kids to India, then buy a decent house may be 2 bedroom (anything above that would be a white elephant),  near to your home town not in the heart of it. Have a regular income of 50K per month .... that's it. If you have socialization skills then you would be happiest man in India, no socialization skill then US is better you will not survive for long...

if you are not near retirement and young,  better stay put here , there is no settlement there, you will be reaching midlife crisis soon and you are going to hit a wall.. this is my personal opinion only , also depends on your socialization skills, if you have this skill plenty then money would not be a problem. In short No socialization skill stay put here...

parents will respect you as long as you have good attitude and do good. doesn't do anything with money.

but society won't respect you unless you have money...esp in India...

8 cr cash

Will fetch you 5 lakhs per month in interest.

Good house in a safe part of the city with good electricity supply and no water problems = mortage of 2 lakhs per month

Cost of traveling/eating out/drinks/partying etc = 1 lakh per month

Good car = payment of 75,000 per month

Medical insurance etc = 25,000 per month

Children's expenses/school tuition etc = 1 lakh per month.

Total you need 5 lakhs per month in interest to live in India, which means you need 8 crores cash in bank. Approximately 1 million USD
