True, do you think we should solve that by forming a coalition like EU and open up borders of countries within the Indian subcontinent ?

So nobody is supposed to own land then or you don't like people who own land ?

EU is good, but without a single monetary system.

owning the place you live and conduct your business in, different from simply living off rents like a leech. I know the rentseekers provide a decent service by maintaining the property they are renting out, but I think it can be more effectively done by local councils, that can simply function off the proceeds of the auction for sale of a property.

owning things you use is a natural thing. rent seeking introduces lot of distortions in the market. but ofcourse this arrangement is a deliberate one to maintain a kind of social hierarchy among humans. one that is not based on merit.

land is especially a commodity that you can't produce on demand. even though there are ongoing sea reclamation projects in singapore, hongkong, and netherlands.

all land should be public property leased to a firm or person for specific use or for a specific period.

Then effectively nobody can live without working life long then, they will have to keep paying rent until they die ?

own the land or property you use.

simply stops people from hoarding it.

ofcourse social attitudes need radical change for this to happen. Singapore's HDB has a nice thing going by providing own houses to over 90% of the population. flats that they can't pass on to their kids.

but some of the terms HDB has is too harsh, even if its a good place to start.

India, and the world has infinitely more land, and it would seem that more people should have access to own houses, especially in urban areas (many times the size of Singapore), but home ownership is less than 50% in all cities, and in commercial sector, it is a couple dozen builders that call all the shots.

ofcourse, this is not of immediate concern for India. real estate situation is not as dire in any indian city. Just putting this out.
