Agree that Modi has solidified the Hindu vote bank for BJP to good extent. But he won 2019 for many other reasons also:

1) benefited the poor. 

2) Pathetic opposition. Congress has zero credibility and good will in people, except for a few govt employees. I mean, who would want RaGa as his PM? Also, Mahaghatbandhan was seen as more as a desperation to defeat Modi, which actually increased his image.

Vajpayee govt. was not sole BJP but NDA. Some of alliances were not happy that ABV didn't take action on Modi, so they didn't ally. Actually, it was one of the closest contests. I think ABV was only 10-15 seats short.

3.EWS quota

4.Hindutva and no corruption in cabinet
