China to push for new national security law in Hong Kong

China is set to impose new national security legislation on Hong Kong after pro-democracy unrest in 2019. The spokesperson for China’s parliament said that safeguarding national security will serve the fundamental interests of both China and Hong Kong. Protests have already begun in Hong Kong in response to the announcement.
