Job Type: 6 month contract with strong potential for extension Job Description: The Wi-Fi Engineer will provide support to Verizon’s Lead Wi-Fi Engineer and to its customers, guiding each into the future by being the foremost expert in leveraging the established and emerging (i.e. Wi-Fi / WLAN, 5G and Cellular technologies, mobile computing and IoT technologies to solve real- world business problems. They must also be versed in various cloud platform providers, (AWS, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella and Purple Wi-Fi) and leading manufacturers in the networking space (Cisco, Aruba, Cisco Meraki, Extreme Networks, Juniper and CradlePoint). They must demonstrate this expertise through individual actions as well as an ability to collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams. The Wi-Fi Engineer will work with internal stakeholders across multiple business groups to spur innovation and drive business growth through: Skip Skip Professional Service Offers Creative use of technology Emerging technologies / Cloud WLAN security Implementation and configuration of new proposed technologies. The Wi-Fi Engineer will work with Lead Wi-Fi Engineer and with customers to mesh activities between people, technology, and the architectures necessary to implement strategies that allow Enterprise customers to innovate, drive operational and technical efficiencies, improve technical performance, and deliver a more responsive network environment. In this role, you'll be responsible for: Consistently demonstrate the value of Verizon Professional Services by delivering highly professional and successful engagements. Review and analyze current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives. Identify technology and current WLAN environment limitations and cross reference them to client’s business drivers. Identify and propose specific strategies, initiatives and remedies necessary to align technology and infrastructure with corporate objectives. Support development of business drivers, business case and high-level program implementation plan aligned to a strategy to both maximize Client benefit realization and Verizon revenue. Translate Client business issues/opportunities into technical solution/business requirements. Collaborate with presales engineering on strategic architectural planning to achieve goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future state architectures. You'll need to have: BSc or BEng degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field or work experience equivalent, 7+ years of experience within wireless network engineering and other data communications fields. Strong background in Wireless/Mobility/Cellular networks and Networking/Internetworking devices, protocols and operating systems. Architecture, design, and development of end to end Wi-Fi Solutions for Verizon customers (Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Extreme Networks, Aruba). Proficient expertise for RF designs, RF propagation modeling, site surveys at enterprise locations with tools such as Ekahau & AirMagnet. Professional or higher level industry certifications within the network engineering field such as CCNA, CCNP (Wi-Fi), JNCIP (any track), CCIE. Demonstrated expertise in network design –ability to lead a WLAN design-related discussion with leading questions to fully vet a customer’s requirements and develop a proposed design fulfilling said requirements, identify potential impacts of a given design recommendation, knowledge of other technologies and their network requirements/impact, ability to produce comprehensive yet understandable technical documentation (design document, diagrams, etc.) Proficient expertise documenting proposed designs on both HLD and LLD to be delivered to the client Demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in, emerging technologies such as IoT, 5G, and MEC, with a focus on Enterprise use cases. The ability to prepare technical reports, client presentations, design documentation, and manuals. A willingness to travel to customer locations and work away from home Does not require direct supervision able to take high level direction and proactively move a project or internal initiative from start to finish with minimal assistance. Proven capability on troubleshooting wireless networks (that includes RF, layer 2, and WLAN centralized management platforms). Able to perform a wide variety of technical and organizational tasks and may lead or direct the work of others. Communication Skills: Excellent writing skills and comfortable with presenting before large groups of people Proficient in developing documentations of solution/configuration/operations in Visio and MS Office products Ability to lead training and education relative to IPv6 technology, concepts and troubleshooting Detailed and through, consistent documentation skills for network diagrams, test plans and other related documentation Ability to create detailed documentations and test plans Ability to work well in a team. Certifications Must have: CCNA (Wireless), CCNP (Wireless) or CCIE/Wireless (preferred) or ACMA or CWNA or CMNA / CMNO Desired: CISSP – Engineer or Architect concentration Checkpoint, or Juniper, or F5 firewalls or equivalent Cisco Umbrella, or Aruba ClearPass. Even better if you have: BS a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) OR 8+ years of military service within a communications specialty (i.e.). Data collection, troubleshooting, interference analysis, and RF optimization. Experience with software and application development, to include API integration. Experience with any of the following: WAN optimization, Wireless LAN, Cellular, datacenter technologies (load balancers, datacenter switching, etc.), virtualization technologies and concepts (Hypervisors, orchestration, software defined datacenter, NFV, etc.), security appliances and concepts (firewalls, IPS/IDS, identity management, access controls, etc.) Implementation technical oversight, integration of Wi-Fi solutions into the macro network. Demonstrated history of subject matter expertise within claimed specialty (IEs), for example: WLAN, advanced configurations, etc. Demonstrated expertise in solution design –ability to lead a design related discussion with leading questions to fully vet a customer’s requirements and develop a proposed design fulfilling said requirements, identify potential impacts of a given design recommendation, knowledge of other technologies and their network requirements/impact, ability to produce comprehensive yet understandable technical documentation (design document, diagrams, etc.). Demonstrated communication and relational skills – able to form a trusted advisor relationship with a customer, able to listen and guide a technical discussion, able to clearly articulate complex topics.
