Through a partnership with NASA, SpaceX is sending people into space on Wednesday aboard the Crew Dragon. The flight marks the first-ever manned space launch by a private company, and is the first crewed NASA launch from the US since 2011.

this is their ultimate goal to launch humans and reuse them. Today's Mission is also to get the NASA's approval for SpaceX to launch Humans and compete in this space. All the prior satellite launches are just to lay their ground work for future. They wanted to get approvals and compete with Boeing.
