We are procuring mig and sukhoi with 6000 crores purchase orders in hurry today. This is knee jerk reaction 

 

S-400 is India purchase of air defence system that is superior to lockhead  ThAad and so chinese use the same s-400 rusian air defence system.

 

However India should purchase single engine fifth generation fighters while starting f-16 70s model production in Hyderabad. India should go ahead with f35 purchase and ignore all the future deals of twin engine fifth generation fighters planes or sukhois that are not combat tested in India yet.

 

This two foot foreign policies will not work.

 

 

 

It took about 30-40 years for USA to clear the sale of F-16's to India. Negotiated for F-16's with USA much before procurement of 270 SU-30MKI's even started.

F-35 is not for sale and perhaps may not be for sale for ever for any country until US comes up with much more advanced fighter jet than F-35.

Coming to F-16's, although its much better fighter jet but its as good as obsolete. Only third world countries will be flying this jet and no one else.

I may be wrong but the MiG-29's which are cleared for acquisition are supposed to be cleared in defense acquisition meeting held back in 2015-16 when Parikkar was the Defense Minister and this was  for Indian Navy.

and Sukhoi's are ordered to replace the flights that were lost in action and training in the last few years. This was also supposed to be cleared way back along with S-400 deal. 

The only reason why they were put on hold because of Rafael deal and Govt's push for home grown LCA apart from many other deals. 

Coming to the knee jerk reaction, the present order of MiG's and SU's will take another 3-5 years to be delivered. Its purchase has only been cleared but order is yet to be placed. Instead of action, once can see it as a tactic too.

I think under present scenario, its not easy for china to wage a war against India.  

India has Himalayas, very tough for any country to cross. Chala strategic location lo vundi India, its   easier for India to defend its northern border than for any other country to cross and attack. 

Coming to protecting coastal areas, its not easy for anyone to beat Indian Navy in its play ground. Indian Navy is a jewel in Indian Armed Forces. Andaman islands ki vunna strategic location valla Indian Navy will always have upper hand in defending Indian maritime  line. 

In short, China has to put in much more effort to attack India than India does it to defend its borders.
