I want to find out if my friend broke up

In my old lab, there is an Indian guy whose girlfriend is Chinese. That guy is definitely patriotic, maybe not bhakth level, but to some extent. The last I talked with them, they were both fine. But because of the recent unrest at the border, I am curious if they are still together. But, I don't think it's appropriate to ask.

On a serious note, if wife and husband don't have the same political beliefs, wouldn't that be a cause of rift?

if it comes to that level, simple either the man will shut the fuk up, or woman, or both, or both get seperate if they  feel they're conservatives, or think like one....
