Depends on the organization, if you want to work for FBI or NASA, you need clearance. So, you need to be USC. With GC you can apply for some National labs like Lawrence Berkeley, you can apply with GC, but benefits are lower.

Good info. Will look into it 👍

Govt job aa ?? Interested in applying for USCIS. I want to be a adjudicating officer .

It comes under department of homeland security. To be honest, as lot of adjudicating officers are on contract basis, so they won't have the same benefits at GS15 pay scale. Also the DHS is the least likable Government organization to work at for federal employees.

Phone interview

Unfortunately most of these jobs are based out of Washington DC. Got an interview for a job with CIA but they required me to relocate to Virginia, I'm moving to West coast so this wont work for me

Livermore national labs has a lot of openings for US citizens with security clearance. Mostly next target ade, one friend joined Berkeley national lab recently and loves his work there.

It's true most of the GS14/GS15 are DC area. In the Bay area, there are upto GS13 positions at IRS (San Jose), upto GS15 in NASA (Mountain View), upto GS13/14 positions in DHS (Oakland), upto GS15 in FBI (San Francisco). In addition, there are some lower scale GS positions, GS9-12 in Alameda county and some around South SF.

You mean Livermore or Berkeley? Yes my friend doesn't have GC but has a PhD and more than 5 years post PhD experience. So Berkeley lo you might not required citizenship but Livermore does more US Defense related stuff so they required clearance and citizenship ani friend cheppadu.

Yes bro unfortunately DC was the last place my wife and I both wanted to relocate to, if not I would have had a job possibly even with CIA by now or even other defense contractors like booze Allen Hamilton. Due to family preferences we have decided to confine ourselves to Northern California so positions in SF might be ones I could try if they let me work partially remote few days a week
