Mainly Two types 

1. Term — pay some money monthly and anything happens to insured their beneficiary will get money. Usually 25 or 35 years.

2. whole life —- pay some good amount of money every month for few years and get big check after 15 or 20 years (depends on policy) and covered for whole life.

second option is close to LIC back in India but you end up paying a big amount monthly.

now decide yourself which one you can afford.

State Farm 250k teesukunna , expensive , only took it there as I have a couple of more policies so I get some multi policy discounts

will probably go outside and bump it upto 500k

Company vadi tho kooda undi (opted for more than default option)

Term insurance is good option for Most … It cost you $30 to $40 (depending on your age and health) for 1 Million insurance  for 20 years   … You can this apply in  AIG, Transamerica ..etc.  compare the quotes .... Every family with kids need to have this insurance in USA ...Incase of something happens this will supports dependents …
