Jackie Shroff has part Turkish ancestry. His mother was an Uyghur from Kazakhstan. His maternal grandmother along with her daughters fled Kazakhstan during a coup and settled in Ladakh. Eventually they came to Mumbai where his mother met & married his father Kakubhai Shroff, a Gujarati.
