Moving Europe troops to counter China threat to India: US

The decision to draw down troops in Germany was part of a well-thought out strategy because they were being moved to other places, Pompeo told the Brussels Forum. US President Donald Trump recently announced that the US would be reducing troops from Germany, a decision that’s angered EU countries.

The actions of the Chinese Communist Party, Pompeo said, meant there were “threats to India” and countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and the South China Sea. “We are going to make sure we are postured appropriately to counter the PLA. We think that is the challenge of our time and we are going to make sure we have resources in place to do that,” he said.

Russia tho nakatam oka compulsion. 1970's lo Russia tho nakalsi vachindi kabatti nakinaru. USA was completely anti Indian and so was the UK led European block. And since then Defence procurements kosam Russia was a dependent partner. Smiling Budhha punyama ani sanctions petindi USA and India needed a partner to procire defence equipment and an ally. India moved away from typical socialist economy to free market economy in early 1990's but here comes the Pokhran and sanctions that followed..and once again, India had to look towards dependable Russia .

However, after 2000's things started to change during the Vajpayee regime and India cozied up to USA keeping Russia as an ally...

Thanks to Henry J Hyde 123 Agreement, India established close ties with USA...and ties are at all time peak now...After Russia, USA is now bigegst defence and largest trading partner.
