Why PVNR is the most overrated PM..

okay. he ran a coalition govt successfully. big bochchu who cares. he was smart enough to save his skin and finish his term. but the thing here is calling PVNR a reformist PM.

complete joke.

the guy hardly did any reform. He simply devalued the rupee and allowed few imports and made it easy to set up industries. anthey... after doing this, he went and did some more silly politics probably to save his seat.

idhi reform aa mee oorilo? Manmohan singh wanted to do much more, and talked about land reforms to make cheap industrial land accessible, infrastructure spending and complete overhaul of labour laws. PVNR didn't care hoots for any of those.

what that meant is, that age old nexus between existing industrialists and established banks continued, which led to crony capitalists like mallya, ambani becoming richer, and very less of the riches going to the poor.

If PVNR was so ballsy, and reformist  he would done all this at the cost of losing his govt. but no... he did the bare minimum and went back into Indira Gandhi style protectionist bs by making sure that other aspects of the economy are kept in govt control.

this lionising of PVNR is silly. he was an ordinary PM, faced with extraordinary times

and he still behaved like an ordinary PM.

he lacked the vision to carry through reforms to its logical end.

He saw it as an immediate problem that must be solved. solved  it by passing a few orders, and moved on.

and this guy is hailed as an economic reformer.

India's economic reformer PM still hasn't arrived. When he/she does, you'll know. keep waiting..

No its not Rahul Gandhi..

PVNR at best can be described as a bureaucrat type who relishes in solving problems, but lacks any overarching vision for his country.

he let go to waste a great opportunity to reform in 1991.

nehru is very visionary, there's a reason gandhi selected him going against votes of other Congress leaders. nehru is simply marvelous.. the way he lead a new nation is great.. under him India outperformed the goals/targets of five year plans at that time, be it agriculture or industrial sector.

PVNR set us on the right path taking us from 1% GDP growth to 7.5% by the year he left, Vajpayee took his reforms to next step
