First, we need to understand what Akashic records are. Then, you will also know why Akashic records do not and cannot contain what will happen in future.

That is, there is nothing known as “divine intelligence” which can be studied and from which answers found that can be verified and ascertained true after its occurrence. However, there is something known as “knowing the future” or “seeing the future”, but without absolute surety. Even for that, there is nothing “divine” about it, though many of us label it divine out of ignorance. Yet, even the future is perfectly known at an even subtler level, but inaccessible to man, about which I will explain too.

Let me explain a little metaphysical background, as without that you will not understand what Akashic records are about.

The world we live in, our environment or mother nature, is a media containing several kinds of subtleties. They are so subtle that most of it remains beyond human reach, that is, it cannot be sensed by human senses. Theosophy has tried to classify the various kinds of subtleties into seven distinct groups or layers, calling them “worlds of nature”. Each layer is further sub-divided into seven sub-planes, but I will not go into such details. These 7 layers (or 49 sub-layers or sub-planes) coexist, with the subtler layers inter penetrating into the grosser layers. The environment we normally refer to as “nature” is the grossest layer, called the “Physical World” in Theosophy. This is also referred to as the Seventh World of Nature. Solids, liquids and gasses are the three grossest sub-planes of the Physical World, and the other 4 sub-planes (the 4 etheric sub-planes) are too subtle to be sensed by human beings, though they help life in a very physical way.

The layer just above (subtle) in comparison to the Physical World, is called the Astral World – the Sixth World of Nature – which too has seven sub-planes. The layer above (subtle) than the Astral World is called the Mental World – the Fifth World of Nature, and the Mental World also has its seven sub-planes. Potency-wise or effect-producing wise, the Astral World is like a shadow of the Mental World and the Physical World is like a shadow of the Astral World.

These worlds of nature, apart from serving as a media for life, is also a media for recoding of everything that has ever happened in the past, in the form of, what is referred to as Akashic records. Akashic records are indelible records in the æther of space, of whatever has ever happened in the past, with absolute perfection and accuracy, and incidents recorded are not only physical incidents but also every fleeting emotion and thought. These are stored in the Astral World in what is known as “records of the Astral Light” which are spasmodic in nature and not too reliable unless read with tremendous due diligence. One needs to be a trained clairvoyant to read such records and even a clairvoyant can be confused in discerning between thoughts and actual physical incidents and in time-tagging them. Most of past life divination is does from the records of the Astral Light.

The actual Akashic records are far more reliable and contained in the Mental World, but an extremely high order of clairvoyance is needed to read the Mental World records and unless one is an Adept or has such capabilities, the Akashic records are simply out of reach.

Thus Akashic records are only about the past, what has already happened, and not about the future. So it is impossible to know the future and then (later) ascertain its truth. However, our world is filled with many kinds of imposters who with their clairvoyance get a glimpse of the “Records of the Astral Light” from the Astral World and pose as people having divine intelligence to tell the future. That is why, you must have found with soothsayers, they are able to tell the past with almost perfection but fail to be fully accurate for their future predictions. In fact, what is predicted as a future, is more of an extrapolation from the present, and hence a lot of it – particularly in the nearer time frame – turn out to be right.

According to occultism, the future is also contained in the environment, but in still higher worlds of nature for which no human being can ever access. Perhaps an enlightenment human being, who has attained super consciousness and has freed himself from the cycle of death and rebirth, can know it. But he will never tell it. If he ever does, it is a sure sign that he is unable to access it because when one’s intelligence is actually aroused in the Fourth World Of Nature (the world subtler than even the Mental World where consciousness awakes upon Enlightenment), he will never commit such a folly. That would be worse than suicide. But, logical intellect-based or Mental World conjectures can be made, and they often hold good to a remarkable extent.
