The US president said on Tuesday that he signed legislation and an executive order which would hold China "accountable" for the national security law it recently imposed on Hong Kong. The legislation will impose sanctions on Chinese officials who enable the government to carry out the new security law, while the executive order will end preferential treatment of the region. "Hong Kong will now be treated the same as mainland China," Trump told reporters at the White House.
