I don't see anything wrong.  Every country/community has their own traditions. There is nothing to feel bad about it.  We are not sleeping with 10 members before marriage. It has been so successful formula in india.

idi point , people are still choosing their partners 

also the reason why these marriages work is because the couple belong to the same socioeconomic status and thus the differences of opinion could be less between them.

anyway , arranged marriage is an outdated concept but it exists because we have the caste system ingrained in everything in our society still and our parents play the role of helicopter parents very very well!
