Mouthwash may help fight COVID-19 transmission, new study suggests

The researchers mainly focused on preventing the viral multiplication on the throat and salivary glands due to the increasing reports supporting this fact, and SARS-CoV-2 is spread by droplets, which can be viable for almost 3 hours. So, if we find ways to hinder it at that point, it can reduce transmission, while researchers say that ethanol can be effective in this like it does on most surfaces. Researchers also, on the other hand, point out that viral multiplication can be quick once it reaches the respiratory surface. So, it might less effective from that point of view.

In conclusion, we see that mouth-washing agents may have some potential in combatting the disease, but we need to deep-dive into research to have evidence for it. We should also see that people should not misunderstand that they can do mouthwash all-day and forget about other defense measures.
