You have no idea what it takes to be a professor do you? It takes an intense PhD, an intense postdoc, and the most intense tenure track, which lasts for 5 years where in you're an assistant professor, and you need to bring in few million dollars in research budget to be able to secure tenure. After that, you become an associate professor where in you need to establish yourself as the leader in the field to be able to become a full professor. Let's say you finish your PhD in your late 20s, you start being an assistant professor aka tenure track early 30s. So, most people struggle to manage students, secure funding, run a lab, publish results, all in a span of 5 years. Men won't need to take time off to have babies, so they can have as many as they want. But women can't afford to loose time if they want to get tenured. So, most female professors have kids after getting a tenure, usually late 30s, so they are fighting against a ticking biological clock, while struggling to get tenure.

Kids no kids anedi emi undadu ani na opinion it’s zeal and where you want to be . Kids undi phd chestunnavallu unnaru . Mana laziness ki we search for excuses . For some money is motivation for some recognition. Zeal unnavadu emunna chaduvukuntadu progress avutaru .

It boils down to priorities. Kid tho quality time spend cheddam anukune vaallaki ilanti sacrifices tappavu. Especially with kids being home all the time now, focus has to be balanced between their learning and our work. Whatever we do is for them in the end. Cheppalante kids daycare lo adjust avvalekapotunnaru ani career 1 to 2 years break teeskunnavallu kuda unaaru.

Not everyone will have the flexibility to take a couple of years off. They either have to ignore kids or just not have them.

Nenu ade cheptunna. Kids ayyaka vaalle top on the priority list. Tenure kosam you can’t  let your kid go autistic or suffer behavioral issues.

I don’t know who can ignore their kids. The best they can do is parcel them to India if both parents have other important commitments. Vaallani baga chuskunte chaalu anukovali.

career wise kids ochaka stagnat aithadi ante emo anukunna.

single ga unnappudu anukune vaanni uncles ni choosi, veellaki emi radu, assalu enduku teeskunnaru ithanni anukuni.

now i understand their situation.

anyone in same boat, ela handle chesthunnaru ?

I cant speak for all kids, my kid needs me to spend dedicated 1 hour in the evening after I am done with my work, since WFH started I am spending small intervals(2-5 mins) of time with her during the day as well, and she is more than happy with that....so my hours are 8-5 PM work, 5-10 dedicated to family(wife, kid, gardening, cleaning, cooking, dinner etc.), 10 PM -1 AM(either office work or skill update goals). weekends I work 2-3 hrs each day(either office work or skill update goals). Migilina time antha family, frnds etc.  Credit goes to my wife, who is really supportive of my schedule, and any day I just shut down/adjust my schedule for her. :)
