Portland is a very small job market man , Intel, nike, columbia and adidas come to mind and minor UI/UX firms

its just Hip city for being Hip

means and resources are low for tech companies there

also i dont know why that city is expensive, even surburb homes cost 6-7 times avg techie guy annual salary.

location wise its well placed, 1.5 hr to beaches and ski mountains and surrounded by nature and freshwater from all sides
