Manifestos Can't Be Drafted With Consent Of Courts!

The judgement given by Supreme Court on Monday upholding the orders of Andhra Pradesh high court staying the distribution of housing sites for the weaker sections by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government seems to have upset the YSR Congress party leaders.

So much so that deputy chief minister Narayana Swamy indirectly faulted the courts for creating hurdles in the welfare schemes of the Jagan government.

“The YSRC led by Jagan Mohan Reddy has given a promise to the people in its election manifesto that it would give housing sites to 30 lakh landless poor. Accordingly, we were voted to power. But the TDP leaders led by N Chandrababu Naidu are going to courts to stall this noble programme on flimsy grounds,” he said, while speaking to media in Chittoor.

He said no political party would make promises to the people in its manifesto after consulting the high court or supreme court.

“It is not correct for the courts to stall distribution of house sites to the poor. They are not land grabbers; only rich people indulge in encroachment of lands,” he said.

The deputy chief minister appealed to the courts to settle such cases at the earliest.

“It is unfortunate that the government had to postpone the house site distribution programme three times because of court litigations,” he regretted.

Narayanaswamy also attacked Chandrababu Naidu for trying to stall the three capitals plan by moving courts only to protect the interests of 27 villages.

“He has been instigating some sections of people to do real estate business with the lands of Amaravati. This is not good for him and the people,” he said.
