I did linux academy course and whiz labs practice questions.

if you dont have subscription for linux academy, try to get a library card, with that ou get udemy free account where you can access courses for free.

This is partially true..ur resume have to be strong..but everyone has to understand certification will help to get resume picked in in top 10 if there are 100s of resumes and then if u are technically strong backup interview with strong resume certification will get u job faster also ..recently I landed in 170k job straight jump from 120k from current job that I landed few months ago ..so again need lot of handson experience like OP said just having certification is not alone..we rejected so many candidates with certification in my current company i did lotnof interviews as they never worked handson aws ..

Cloud practitioner not mandatory. Waste of time and money. Start with solutions architect. A cloud guru easy to follow. And course designed exclusively for exam. Udemy and Pluralsight chudaledu.

I agree that's all not needed, but when you are moving from one technology to another, how can you prove you have knowledge on those things without working on it, chicken egg relation right. when You just have I shaped skills and you want to expand your horizons and get T shaped skills; now-a-days if you are in Microsoft ecosystem they are expecting some Azure exposure and AWS/GCP for others. its one prerogative right to have certification or not but sometimes it also shows seriousness of a candidate if he is moving from one technology to another technology, I don't see anything wrong in it.
