whats wrong in making a living by being a priest? Its just like any other service humans need and someone has to provide it for them.

pujaris do know the religion better than you do. They probably did some course (if not born in a brahmin household) or studied vedas from an early age in preparation for priesthood. if you really believe in Hinduism, you wouldn't even mock pujaris.

The problem is elsewhere man. 

if you have a problem with Hinduism's hierarchy structure itself, then i welcome you to anarchism. 

i personally hate every single religion, but will not speak against them. because they are probably the last stand against a much bigger evil. The evil of man's ego combined with his inertia.

both together are the biggest source of problems. not religion or pujaris.
