All this confirms the worst fears of Silicon Valley’s tech elite: that Google’s progressive laissez-faire model is no match for the state-supported growth of the Chinese system. And that the only way to stay competitive is to drop the progressive act and embrace deeper ties with the U.S. government.

why don't they admit that revenues from advertising have hit diminshing returns and everyone is not as shameless as Elon Musk to be giving public demonstration of half baked technologies, to keep the interest in their companies alive.

Do they really think Chinese closed tech model can defeat the open internet of the US? if yes, these guys are dumber than I thought.
