Ala 20th week ane em undadu, if you have regular scanning appointment and If gender organs are visible for them , they will tell you right then, basically it takes time for them to see, even you can see while scanning, just ask on usual scanning appointment.

some chromosomal tests can tell gender much ealry

depends on the doc doing the tests , whether they deem it necessary or not

actually they can do at 12 weeks using mom's blood. But in this case do not tell your friend, if he is planning to abort. Also lose him as a friend asap

during 9-14 weeks of pregnancy there is a test called "non invasive prenatal testing" which is done for identifying certain abnormalities but many use it to find out the gender of the fetus. idi 99% accurate so you can use this. One catch is most insurances don't cover this as this is an optional test unless the doctor identifies a risk so that this test becomes mandatory
