Apparently Oxford started allowing girls only from 1920.. I understand someone from Mumbai or Delhi going to Oxford.. they have that awareness..  but Andhra nunchi velladam matram great..

She is wife N G Ranga alias Gogineni Ranga Nayakulu. 

NG Ranga is standing in that photo, third from left.

Yes, even under British rule, Some Indians were allowed to travel and study. I think it was mostly rich, and upper caste people.

But the dream of most people who went to abroad is to come back and make India a better place.
