Govt. collect chese anni taxes lo 42% goes to states. Before 2014 it was 31%. This is decided by finance commission.

central collects the major share of the taxes off fuel, and then distributes 42% of the share it collected to the states 

your breakdown probably took into account the 42% that is already distributed to the state, which cannot be true because it is distributed through a formula and not as states share directly ... so developed states actually get less than what they contribute..

and then you put 42% to be shared on a ridiculously low number. it is misleading and factually wrong.

either way, cars being expensive in India has nothing to do with taxes. maruti makes cars at even 3lakhs segment in India.

Indian market is small. simple. so most of the manufacturing is geared to exports and exports are unattractive at the moment because of GST dues may be (i didnt even that article so may be the focus there is different)

try and get your govt to be more liberal with spending if you wanna help India. Government spending in infra is lacking or not commensurate with creating the kind of demand that will propel India.

pls don't list projects taht Modi govt took up. Instead look at rise in demand for cars as an indicator. and why Indian market is about 15% of the chinese. the gap is in govt infra spending.

I absolutely hate this govt and wish modi dies a horrible death, but economy lo all govts in India are same. They are conservative. do your bit to push govt to be more liberal, since you seem so eager to help India.

learn to argue first. Excise duty is central share of which 42% goes to states, but not in proportion to what states paid, but according to a formula. So your breakdown was bullshit.
