The 19-year-old Dalit woman who was gang-raped by four men in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh four days passed away on Tuesday morning. She was struggling for her life under ventilator in an Aligarh hospital for three days, after which she was shifted to AIIMS, Delhi yesterday, but her conditions failed to improve in the slightest.

Two days ago, Hathras Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir said that the four accused named in the rape case, which took place on September 14, have been arrested.

Giving details of the incident, the SP said that the woman had gone to the fields with her mother on that fateful day and had gone missing soon after.

She was later found brutally injured, with her tongue having a serious cut as she bit it while the accused attempted to strangulate her, he said.

The SP said initially they came to know that Sandip (20) had tried to kill her following which he was arrested the same day.

Later in her statement to the magistrate, the victim said that besides Sandip, Ramu, Lavkush and Ravi had raped her and when she resisted their attempts, they tried to strangulate her, leading to the cut in the tongue, the official said.

Later, Luvkush and Ramu were also arrested and the fourth accused was arrested on Saturday, the SP added.

The girl who was gang-raped on September 14 was brought to the Aligarh hospital the next day. She had injuries on the neck and was put on the ventilator, a JN Medical Hospital spokesman had said that day.

Hathras Additional Superintendent of Police Prakash Kumar told reporters that originally the accused were charged under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC but after receiving more inputs they were charged under section 376 D (gangrape).

He said that the legal process of trying the case under a fast track court has also been initiated.

Senior Congress leader Sheoraj Jiwan accused the Hathras police of gross negligence in the case and alleged that the woman was shifted to Aligarh only after her condition turned serious.

Jiwan, who met the woman's family members, alleged that the police tried to shield the accused. He demanded that the victim's family be urgently provided security and should be given a sum of Rs 20 lakh as financial assistance.

As always, My dear concerned and responsible Indian Citizens, You have successfully side tracked a major lapse in legal system.

manishi sachipoindi, sampinaru...brutal murder.....enduku sampinaor telvadu...kani meeku Police ollu midnight teesukapoi shavanni kalchalina avasaram emundi ani quochening sestuanru...meeru ra ayya, asalu sisalaina bhavi bharata pourulu ante...

The bigger issue is about the murder, but why are you guys more inclined to know why the body was cremated at 2:30 am ?

2:30 AM ki cremate ki karakulaina vallu maha aithe 1 year suspend avutaru...but the big issue is about the brutal murder here...!!!

Looks Like Perfect Cover up

CCTV footage from hospital where Hathras victim was first taken is ‘lost’

AGRA: The CBI team investigating the alleged gang-rape and murder of the 19-year-old Dalit girl from Hathras reached the district hospital, where she had been first taken, and found that crucial evidence they were looking for was not there. The CCTV footage from September 14, the day the girl was brought in, was not backed up.
“The district administration and police had not asked for the footage at the time. Now, after a month, we can’t provide it,” chief medical superintendent of the hospital, Indra Veer Singh, said. He added that the hospital would have saved it had someone asked them to. “Previous footage gets deleted every seven days and new footage gets recorded over it.”

The CBI team had visited the hospital to record statements of doctors and examine evidence. The first day’s footage would be crucial, a police officer said. A source added that the CBI team wanted to go over the footage and ascertain when the victim was brought in, when she was moved out, who attended to her and who spoke to her when she was there.

Asked why the police and administration had not sought the footage earlier, a police officer said the hospital has “nothing to do” with the crime-related investigation. “Unless a crime took place in the hospital or negligence was reported, this has no bearing on the criminal investigation. These are unrelated things. That is why CCTV footage was not taken into account.”
The victim’s brothers and father, meanwhile, were questioned by the CBI again on Wednesday for about seven hours, starting at 11.30am. They were dropped home later by the local police.

Earlier in the day, the victim’s family had demanded that the four accused in the case be moved out of Aligarh jail, where they are said to have a lot of “local support.” Hathras sub-divisional magistrate Anjali Gangwar said the request would be considered “by senior officials.”
