Jagan Gets Relief In CBI Court, Thanks To Corona

YSRC party president and Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday got a major relief from the special court for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in his alleged quid pro quo cases.

The CBI court granted exemption to Jagan from personal appearance in the court in Hyderabad in view of Coronavirus pandemic.

The trial has to take place every Friday, but because of Covid-19, it had been deferred all these days.

But the court had to resume the trial again this Friday following a direction from the Supreme Court. Since Jagan is stationed in Vijayawada and because of the pandemic, he sought exemption from personal appearance.

His counsels requested that the hearing could take place through video conferencing method in view of the present situation. The CBI court agreed to the request and granted him permission.

Interestingly, the same exemption was given to the other accused in the case, including YSRC general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy, as the court accepted their requests. The case was deferred to October 12 for the next hearing.

There is also a stay from the state high court on the trial into four charge sheets filed by the CBI. The trial court deferred hearing on these stayed cases to November 9.
