Her tweet is as bad as your view of American culture, not all Americans are racist or support gun violence. Just like not all immigrants are not illegal. I think the lack of understanding of others culture, and not being open to new culture is the problem here.

And IF the same person ends up marrying a chitizen and becomes kadigina muthyam.... antunnava... That’s I am saying, when I say chain.

If the marriage is for the purpose of attaining a green card, then it's illegal. In fact, I am pretty sure they screen to see if a marriage is for the purpose of attaining immigration benefit or if the marriage is real before they get a green card (not a conditional green card).

Nothing wrong in celebrating July 4th or Christmas.

You just fell in the trap of original tweet and reacted the same way.

American culture according to the tweeter’s view. She is catering to that base.

And you're catering to yours. There is a middle ground, and neither of you are on it.

Cultural assimilation is the process in which a minority group or culture comes to resemble a dominant group or assume the values, behaviors, and beliefs of another group. So, IT offices lo celebrating Diwali is weird in a way because you're trying to change the culture of the majority. Anyway, India lo IT offices lo kuda Diwali lo celebrate cheyaru, ikkada enduku.

I don't agree. India lo kuda Diwali ki traditional dresses vesi potluck petti celebrate chestaru. And IT offices lo Indians are not minority. Prati company lo HR encourages to bring everyone together so that people understand other cultures better. Diwali ki mataram ready ayyi haloween ki oka tattoo kuda veskoni janala gurinchi kaadu cheppedi. ala ani dusshera and vinayaka chavithi kuda celebrate cheyyandi ani adagatledu ga.

I never saw a firm in which majority are Indians in America. I mean people celebrate cinco de mayo in some cafeteria, that's because cafeteria staff are all Latino. If the place you work is similar, then sure you can celebrate whatever you want. That's why I said one should be open to new culture, not try to rub your culture on someone without reciprocating.

The extent of assimilation the tweeter is demanding can only be achieved by a 2nd or 3rd generation Indian(keeping the religion part aside). for 1st gen the roots are still in home country and their kids identify themselves as American. so she is wrong in saying that they can never assimilate. the 2nd gen is American enough to assimilate.

Technically she said migrants assimilating, children of migrants born here are not really migrants.
