children of migrants who were brought here early are also migrants but are as american as any other kid

I don't know about as American as, it depends on who you're talking about. Anchor babies are technically American but know nothing about American culture.

So, IT offices lo celebrating Diwali is weird in a way because you're trying to change the culture of the majority.

Anduke teliyanappudu cheppakudadu anedi. I specifically said Diwali in IT offices.

Okay, I guess it's my ignorance. Like I said I don't know everything about all cultures, I am learning as I go. I never had an office Diwali celebration, so I didn't think it was a thing. The closest it got to was someone (the only other Indian in the whole building) wishing me happy Diwali. So, if I try to celebrate Diwali at my work, it will be weird.

If DACA kid can identify themselves as Americans why can't an Indian kid consider himself an american. The term Anchor babies is itself an abomination.

If a pregnant Chinese lady has a baby born in the US, who grows up in China, what do you call him? What about Akhil Akkineni? He is an anchor baby, he never grew up in America.

Cultural assimilation of immigrants, that's what the whole thread is about.

Culturally assimilate into what? American culture kadha. Define it. Or give some examples of what comes under American culture

That's what I said, it's based on cultural assimilation of the immigrants. Previously, majority of the immigrants were of European descent, so a lot of festivals that Europeans celebrate. Thanksgiving from Canada, Halloween from Mexico, everything that defines American culture is based on cultural assimilation, except for the very first Thanksgiving meal though.

Why would you say it's a lie though, it's an intent. Your intent can change over time.

You shouldn’t consider each of them separately and conveniently certify what’s legal and what’s illegal. Consider everything as a chain and then call it out.

He's not the one that's defining what's legal and what's not. It's the law of the land that decides that. Try to change that maybe.

I’ve no concerns about the law and people making life here in various ways. Problem is about people claiming they are kadigina muthyams and bragging about it (and point here is they conveniently forget their roots). There are many desi morons who support the original tweet. I am targeting those, without a question.

Second generation immigrant children are not migrant anymore. I lived in this country for a decade, I don't think I have assimilated completely, I don't think I ever will. I am an immigrant, and I can never truly be American because my cultural identity is in India. I don't see any problem with that, and I don't find it offensive in any way. I am not open to drinking at cinco de mayo or at St. Patrick's day because I grew up in a culture where drinking alcohol isn't a thing during festivals. I am not going to change my culture just because I lived in this country for a decade. I am not saying I am not open to other cultures, I am just saying I cannot assimilate into this culture completely unless I grew up in this culture.
