#BreakingNews #HR1044 #S386 The Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act passes the Senate.

Dear Friends,

Senator Mike Lee just passed The Fairness for High Skilled Immigrants Act through the Senate by Unanimous Consent!

The version that passed has two major changes pertinent to us:

  1. In years 1-9 after implementation, no more than 70% of the Green Cards can go to H1 visa holders & their dependents.
  2. Year 10 onwards, no more than 50% of the Green Cards can go to H1 visa holders & their dependents.

You can find the last draft we have here. While not everything that we wanted, it will still clear the existing backlog a lot sooner than the present miserable situation, where according to David Bier from the CATO Institute, "Indian employer-sponsored applicants face an 8-decade wait for green cards, and nearly 200,000 will die before they could even theoretically reach the front of the line."

After working on this bill for over a decade, you can take it from us that the bill is a great and hard-fought first-step towards a fairer more equitable immigration system. Even though the bill has passed the Senate, we still have some way to go, the Senate version is significantly different from the House version, the differences must be reconciled, the reconciled version must pass both Houses of Congress again, and finally, the bill must be sent to the President’s desk.

In order to get where we are today, our biggest obstacle has been a syndicate of powerful and deep-pocketed immigration lawyers and staffing companies, who are determined to maximize their revenue per-human being who immigrates into the United States. They didn’t care that our children were being thrown out at the age of 21 or those entire families were self-deporting upon the death of the family breadwinner.

To stop or slow down our bill, these groups will now throw the kitchen sink at Congress. We now are in the fight of our lives. In order to get our bill done - in-spite of these forces, we believe we will need to hire the services of some specialist consultants, to advise us on how to navigate key offices to get things moving in the short time we have.

We, therefore, request you to please contribute to this most important fundraiser at this critical time. Please contribute generously for your and your own families' sake.

The proposition is simple, the more money we raise, the better the odds are of our bill passing.
