Apple literally micromanages every part of the supply chain. They set profit margins under which their contractors should work. Apple is part of this fiasco, in some way.

The company hired contractors so they can push the blame on the contractors. Let's the indian fight the indian, that's what the Taiwanese bosses doing. Happened in China and other South East Asia countries too when they invest there.

Apple has reach far beyond than we think. In one instance , NY Times reported about how illegally mined gold was making it to manufacture iPhones and Apple investigated it. Apple's CEO's talked to Colombian president in person to know more about this. Apple has banned all gold from colombia being used in Apple's products.
