FCI silent ga cut down seyochu procurement of grains from farmers to support fixed prices. Modi steel rods dimputhunnadu new farm laws tho. You go sell wherever you want or store how long you want but FCI might not procure with high debts on back. 😁

The government is supposed to pay the difference between FCI's procurement prices and sales prices. But for the past few years, the government has not fully compensated FCI, forcing it to borrow every year. FCI's total debt has ballooned to 3.81 trillion rupees ($51.83 billion).

For the current fiscal year to March 2021, the government earmarked 1.15 trillion rupees in food subsidies, but FCI is likely to spend about 2.33 trillion rupees, partly because of free grain distributions during the coronavirus lockdown, stretching its debt further.

Meeru four years ilanti policies ki co sponsors kadha , 2014 lo ney FCI stopped procurement in Andhra Pradesh directly from mills .

Civil supplies department is procuring but at less rate than MSP and inturn selling some stock to FCI . now state civil supplies department is also neck deep in accumulated debt .

Policy change , they wanted private mills to directly market the rice .

FCI was already over burdened back then . instead of promoting alternative crops for five years , Central government thought market forces will force the farmers to something else , quite foolish .

Atleast now they should have a long term strategy on how rice farmers are encouraged to shift to other crops , market force will not work in india. It is all a organised racket .

We used to plant sugarcane as a rotational crop for rice but government has ** up that sector in south india , almost 90% of sugar mills are closed in AP/TG from 2014 to now . Remaining 10% are barely surviving .

We had to sell our sugarcane to Stalin's sugar factory last year , almost 400 km away because that's the closest operating one left .

But if private mills not getting MSP then ? are they not legally obliged to buy if no one is picking up MSP. This clearly shows south india is f*cked by delhi. Atleast the punjabi sikhs are standing up.

In Punjab they have butter smooth procurement process where farmers dump the product in yards and if traders want to buy above msp they will if not FCI will buy.

Market forces aa gadidhi ****. They want an average farmer who barely makes anything get re-trained every year for new crop - take rain risks, pest risks and after producing it then worry about international prices, futures, and local organized rackets called "market forces". Malla eee nayallaki okka nela jitham delay aithe gila gila kottunkaru.

MSP has not been a thing in AP for over 6 years now . Before that time it was very limited .

Punjab has its share of faults , most of the rice from Punjab is not preferred even by ration card holders . So it rots in warehouses cause no one knows what to do with it as Punjabis themselves don't eat it

Main problem is you can't expect a rice/ wheat farmer of 15+ years to suddenly grow other crops and market it . Government should have built viable alternatives slowly .

Dumbasses still think congress party can mobilise lakhs of people to protest in a another state in a cold wave without even proper winter clothes or shelter .

yes those faults are not punjab though. It was indian govt which told punjabis to keep producing we will pay you msp. So they did. Now govt is telling go fall at feet of ambani and sell it there for market price. what can they do
