How to fix all temple issues

Temples are a problem. They are very different from other religious places like churches or mosques. They are mostly used to collect money in the name of darshan/hundi/puja in return for some magical benefits the diety or idol is believed to give. Temples are rarely used for preaching or telling right from wrong or doing charity or service - infact most temples dont do any of such things. In addition temple priests are heriditary or belong to one caste no merit is allowed.

Also most temples are designed to take and take and take and take but not give much in return. For example more and more gold, jewellery is added, thousands of acres of land donated by kings simple remains with temple. In some govt run temples they do annadanam etc but these arent really that common or that organized.

So how to fix this ?

First re-distribute all the land to nearby landless farmers. Already land ceiling acts are there for people why are temples exempt. In return some small piece of land can remain with temple where they can use to build a school/hospital to do seva.

Do not collect more jewels or gold than necessary. Anything above will be melted and used as donation. First of all it is ridiculous to cover god in so much gold and a hassle to protect it leading to pink diamond style fiasco nonsense.

Make priests and management meritocratic and recruit from local society.

Once the above are established give autonomy to temple management and let govt go away.

mosque is a very simple place. They dont hoard jewellery, gold and store riches. It is a place for prayer. Zakat is meant for distribution to muslim poor not to buy jewellry for allah.

Also no heriditary mullahs there.

unlike in Hinduism Idols are worshipped, and they need decoration...

I am not asking to shut them up. But reform so it can actually benefit even more people.
