Orkut was developed used asp.net. Scalability issues vachayi. They could have easily used that concept and re-designed everything. Looks like they dint predict the market for social media

Fb is already matured and people moved from orkut to fb by then.

Google has almost 7-8 chat applications doing the same thing. 

If not the companies it aquaried, google would have been another yahoo now.
