Don’t know the exact shorted shares count? They keep telling naked short which is illegal act according to SEC or any market terms? Looks like they did in billions 
 

a good example for naked short 

you have a car and title with person James 

And James sold the car and title to some John and John he gave for lease for some x number of people and he also sold same car with making photo copies of the tilted to 1000s people now only one car exist and John doesn’t want to give the car
