just give them referendum. if they ask for azadi they will get azadi. Beleive me thats the best way to tackle pakistan. once kashmir gets azadi, azad kashmir will ask then baluchis will ask. India will also liberalize and states will get more freedom even independence. our taxes will be with us. Defense spending cut to half. jobs, more money etc.

To be honest, China tho border issue would have resolved in 1961 itself if we had a more shrewd PM who has a long term vision on foreign policy. But Nehru's vision was very myopic and he was mostly confined to Bollywood-ish lip sympathy of Indi Chini bhai bhai. China didn't want to go to war with India over Aksai chin in 1961, anyone that's read the events of the day would know that. So you are right, in a way this was a huge foreign policy blunder committed by Indian high command in the center which we are all paying a price for. 

As for defense budget, I am of the opinion that we could invest that money into developing better indigenous tech which can be sold for smaller and medium budget nations like how Isreal does, however our babugiri prevents us from developing any products that are actually meritorious. Tejas is a perfect example, all for a LCA at that. I guess we don't see any way out of this predicament except keep spending a lot of money on importing these 5th gen and above fighter planes, unless we find a way to make these technologies at home and make them more affordable in the process.

There is another border problem with china which is mostly a british colonial border issue india can resolve with give and take. I mean WTF is pangong lake - most indians dont even dream of such places leave alone talk about them. why should people die for it and why cant india solve it through talks.

IN last 70 years india could not solve kashmir problem politically or militarily but throws billions and billions of our money for its empire like ego of occupying lands without consent of people there. Not to mention thsouands of indian soliders it sacrificed.

And what is worse is  we in andhra/tg  does not have any security challenges . we are surronded by tamil nadu, kar, maha - all peaceful societiees. But our forex and taxes are extracted every year to defend india's colonial borders. sad.
