For your basic use, just get an iPad 10.2” which also has headphone jack so you can charge and listen at the same time without using a hub.  It also has thicker bezels and easier to hold and sturdier.

There is no headphone jack on iPad Air and iPad Pro and you have to use a hub if you want to listen while charging which is a hassle. These models also have thinner bezels.

iPad Air 10.9” and iPad Pro 11” have wide screen with 4.3:3 ratio. I’m guessing they will discontinue 11” Pro and replace it with a 12” this year.

you don’t need iPad Pro and 12.9” is really BIG.

all iPads now support Smart Keyboard and Pencil.

get more storage so you don’t run out of space over time and needing to keep deleting apps to make room for other apps. To get max use out of iPad, get a cellular version and add it to your phone plan for $10 a month and use iPad from anywhere even away from WiFi like the phone.

use a screen protector like Tech Armor Ballistic clear glossy glass protector.

Yes, iOS is for iPhones and iPadOS is for iPads. They forked the o/s like that for optimization and performance as some phone features are not needed on iPads.

I’m still using my MacBook Pro from 2012 (yeah, 8 years and still going strong with just one battery replacement) and iPad Pro 11” from 2018 and haven’t followed the newer Mac models closely. Basically MacBook Pro has higher performance with more connectivity (mine has a HDD and even a DVD player in it, no USB-C back then). The newer models are lighter with SSD and USB-C.

Mac mini is cheaper and packs a lot of power with good connectivity in the rear
