LPG Cylinder Rates: Cooking gas price hiked, lpg cylinder price

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) gas cylinders has been hiked again, and the new rates would be applicable from tomorrow (Monday) 12 am onwards. The price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for domestic use will be costlier by Rs 50.

According to the country's largest oil company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), a gas cylinder without subsidy in Delhi will now cost Rs 769.

The price of LPG gas cylinder is determined by the state-run oil companies and is revised on a monthly basis.

Households in India are allowed a maximum of 12 LPG cylinder purchases per year at subsidized rates. Cylinders have to be bought at full price at the time of purchase, and the subsidy is then credited to the customer's bank account by the government.

Cooking LPG To Cost  50 More,  769 In Delhi From Monday: Report

Earlier, the non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas prices were hiked by  25 on February 4, 2021 across the four metro cities.

New Delhi:

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) domestic cylinder has been hiked by  50 per cylinder in Delhi on Sunday. A 14.2 kg gas cylinder in the national capital will now cost  769 from 12 AM Monday onwards, reported news agency ANI.

This is the second price hike in the month of February. Earlier, the non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas prices were hiked by  25 on February 4, 2021 across the four metro cities.

The hike comes at a time  when the prices of petrol and diesel prices touched all-time highs across the four metros on Sunday after oil marketing companies increased the rates by around 30 paise for the sixth straight day. In Delhi, the price of petrol was hiked by 29 paise from  88.44 to  88.73 per litre, and diesel was increased by 32 paise from  78.74 per litre to  79.06 per litre, according to Indian Oil Corporation. In Mumbai, the revised petrol and diesel rates stood at  95.21 per litre and  86.04 per litre respectively.

Indian Oil, the country's largest fuel retailer, supplies LPG under the brand Indane. Usually, the rates of non-subsidised LPG cylinders are reviewed on a monthly basis and any changes effected on the first day of each month. Cooking gas rates vary in different parts of the country due to local taxes.

Presently, the government subsidises 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilograms each per household every year. The customer has to make any additional purchases of LPG cylinders at the market price.
